Paruppu Adai and Chicken Fry

I know...I know... :(
I always keep saying and trying (believe, its true !!) to blog more often...but never seem to get a hang of it..the reason being ...I forget to take pictures once I finish cooking....either its time for me to leave to work...or I am too hungry to eat that I forget to take a picture.. (I wonder everytime I see a nice food pic....about how people can remember to click before they lick ....
anyways.. I decided to blog even if I dont take pics....atleast that way I can get to routine of blogging and then slowly cultivate the habit to remember to click... !!! :)

Weekend was kind of relaxing as my DH had gone for his bike class...it was just me and my son at home...giving me a lot of time to clean the house....and to cook a lot of stuff...
For dinner, we had paruppu adai and chicken fry...simple to prepare and tasty to eat...

Paruppu adai

Ingredients :
Toor dal - 1/4 cup
Channa dal - 1/4 cup
Rice - 1 cup

redchillies - 5-6
salt to taste

chopped onion - a handful
spinach or methi - a handful
cilantro

Soak the dals and the rice overnight and grind it with the redchillies and salt in the grinder for 5-6 minutes. Dont grind them too fine....

Add the chopped onion, methi and cilantro to the ground dough.

Adai is ready.. !!! Adai gets more taste if the dough is a little fermented.. I would suggest that prepare the dough a day before allowing it to ferment.

Chicken Fry

Chicken - 1 pound
onion - 1
garlic - 3 flakes
chopped ginger - 1 tsp
chilli powder - 3 tablespoon
salt.

Chop the onion, garlic and ginger fine.
Add oil to the pan and saute the onion, ginger and garlic. After they are half cooked, add the chicken and saute...Add the chilli powder and salt and water. Close the lid and allow to cook for 15- 20 mins.. After the chicken is cooked...open the lid and allow the gravy to boil until the water is evaporated and the oil separates.
This is a very easy to make recipe for chicken and has its taste for sure...

Do try and let me know how it went...
